The message that is been narrated goes like this:

In a meeting With, Guru Ji asked a 30-year-old youth to stand up during his discourse.

Guru Ji inquired – You are walking on Juhu Chowpatty in Mumbai and a beautiful girl is coming from the front, so what will you do?

The young man said – She will be seen, and he will start seeing her personality.

Guru Ji asked – After that girl has moved forward, so will you look back too?

The boy said – yes if my wife is not with me.  (everyone laughs in the meeting)

Guru Ji again asked – Tell me how long will you remember that beautiful face?

The young man said Maybe for 5 – 10 minutes until another beautiful face appears.

Guru Ji said to the young man – now just imagine. you are going from Jaipur to Mumbai and I gave you a packet of books and said that this packet should be delivered to such a great person in Mumbai.

You went to his house in Mumbai to deliver the packets.

When you saw his house, you came to know that he is a  billionaire.

10 vehicles are parked on the porch of his bungalow and 5 watchmen are standing outside the house.

You sent the information of your arrival along with the packet, then that gentleman himself came out and greeted you.

He took the packet from you. Then when you started to return leave the place, you were requested very humbly by him to come inside his home.  He sat beside you and fed you hot food.

While you were returning, He asked you – how have you come to my house?

You said – in the local train.

He asked his driver to take you to your destination and as soon as you were about to reach your place, that billionaire dignitary made a call to you and asked – Brother, have you reached comfortably!

Now tell me how long will you remember those great men?

The young man said – Guru Ji!  I will never forget that person in my life,  till I die in life.

Addressing the gathering through the youth, Guru Ji said – “This is the reality of life.”

“Beautiful face is remembered for a short time, but beautiful behaviour is remembered for life.”

That’s the Guru mantra of life. Concentrate on the beauty of your behaviour more than the beauty of your face and body. Life will become enjoyable for yourself and unforgettable inspirational for others.

Now, after reading this I recall few goodwill act of kindness I happen to come accross in my life time. I still remember and follow a few, a few I think over as a shown over un-deserving personalities in my life. Either ways this has impacted me to work on "Keep the Good Going" as a motto in my life.

Hope you will also have a trip down your memories of goodwill that you had received.

Kutty Story | the 24/48 organization rule

Curator: Kovai Kirupakar

I recently came across an interesting sharing by the CEO of an Insurance company, called the 24/48 rule which is explained as the two compartments of any organization which every employee in the organization can be categorized into and refers to the ambient temperature in which the two parts operate.

The 24-part refers to the Head Office, Corporate office and all those who operate from various office locations of the organization.

The 48-part refers to those in the marketplace, the sales guys, field staff, the supply chain teams, the staff and workers in the factories and plants of the organization.

While the 24-part are cosy and snug in the cool environs of the office, the 48-part are the ones who slug it out in the marketplace or on production shop floors, sweating and struggling to make, move, position and sell the product ensuring last-mile connectivity to the customer. On whom does the success/failure of the business depend?

On the 24 part or the 48 part of the company? This is one perpetual conundrum in every organization.

While the marketing teams devise the sales strategies and build the brand image of your product, they form the 24- part of the organization, the sales teams on the other hand who form the 48-part are the ones who deliver the goods and ensure that the cash counters are ringing.

While the Research and Development/Production Design/Planning teams, etc. which form the 24-part, conceive and visualize the product, it is the guys on the shop floor who ensure that the final product is produced, meeting the exacting quality standards that have been specified.

As a Production Executive at Parke-Davis during the early part of my career, I faced a similar situation.

Benadryl Expectorant, which was our star product, had a stiff daily production target. On several occasions, the production team surpassed these targets achieving one milestone after another but except for a perfunctory pat on the back, there was no other recognition.

On the other hand, when the Marketing team achieved a significant milestone of a sales target of 100 crores for the product, there were massive celebrations capped off with a big bash at a 5-star hotel.

In every organization, the 24 parts are the blue-eyed boys of the organization while the 48-parts are quite often taken for granted.

Later on, when I moved into the 24-part of the business into exports and sourcing, I made it a point to always respect and appreciate the guys on the shop floor who ensured that we met our business targets.

Businesses need to realize and appreciate the value of the 48-parts. Businesses depend on them for their success and if you want a successful business you must ensure that people who operate at 24 are always keeping the 48 folks in mind.

We need to remind ourselves that businesses are not built in air-conditioned offices, boardrooms etc. they are built out there in the marketplace where customers part with their hard-earned cash for products & services.

Even in sports whether football or cricket, it is not the 24- ones manning the dugouts, dressing rooms, selection committees and managing boards that make the game popular.

The popularity of the game depends on what happens in the middle…the 48 parts… Do make sure you are paying heed to what is happening in the 48-part of your organization. Your policies must have their interests in mind. Not doing so would make all the difference between success and failure in an organization.

Let us not forget that 48 always triumphs over 24 whether in sports, business or in life.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read and all applicable to this experiment :

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation !

Good Read – Shared Story

A man, who regularly attended meetings with his friends, suddenly without any notice stopped participating.

After a few weeks, one very cold night the leader of that group decided to visit him.

He found the man at home, alone, sitting in front of a fireplace where a bright and cozy fire burned. The man welcomed the leader. There was a great silence.

The two men only watched the dancing flames around the logs that crackled in the fireplace.

After a few minutes the leader, without saying a word, examined the embers that formed and selected one of them, glowing most brightly of all, removing it to the side with a pair of tongs. Then he sat down again.

The host was paying attention to everything, fascinated. Before long, the lone ember flame subsided, until there was only a momentary glow & the fire soon went out.

In a short time what was previously bright light and heat had become nothing more than a black & dead piece of coal.

Very few words had been spoken since the greeting.

Before preparing to leave, the leader with the tongs picked up the useless coal & placed it again in the middle of the fire. Immediately, the ember was rekindled, fueled by the light & heat of the burning coals around him.

When the leader reached the door to leave, the host said: Thank you for your visit and for your beautiful lesson. I’ll return to the group soon.

Why is the group extinguished…..?

Very simple:
Because each member that withdraws takes fire & heat from the rest.

It’s worth reminding group members that they are a part of the flame.

It’s also good to remind us that we are all responsible for keeping each other’s flame burning & we must promote the union among us so that the fire is really strong, effective and lasting.

THE GROUP IS ALSO A FAMILY

It doesn’t matter if sometimes we are bothered by so many messages that reach the chat. What matters is to be connected. We are here to meet, learn, exchange ideas or simply to know that we are not alone.

Let’s keep the flame alive.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR FIRE
